The Rhode Island Professional Firefighters Pipes and Drums Band brings together firefighters and public safety professionals from across Rhode Island who share a love of the music and the mission behind it. In 2026 the band celebrated its 25th anniversary.
Our first duty is honor: performing at funerals and memorials for fallen firefighters and standing with their families and departments. Beyond that solemn duty, the band performs at parades, ceremonies, and community events throughout Rhode Island and throughout New England — including WaterFire’s Salute to Veterans in Providence and the Rhode Island Firefighters Memorial.
The band’s emblem — the Maltese cross with the Rhode Island anchor and the word ‘Hope’ — reflects who we are: Rhode Island firefighters, in the state’s colors and traditions, with shamrocks honoring the heritage of the fire service pipe band.
The band rehearses on Mondays at 5:00 PM at the Cumberland Public Safety Union Hall, 7 Cray St, Cumberland, RI, and is actively recruiting active and retired public safety union members.
